Facebook says you're not an admin? Here's how to fix it

Why this happens

When you connect Facebook to Rulrr, Facebook has to give us permission to manage your Page and run your ads. If you got an error, or your Page didn't show up, it almost always means one thing: your Facebook account doesn't have full admin access to the Page yet.

This is confusing because you might have created the Page, or own the business, and still not have "admin" access. On Facebook, owning a Page and having admin control over it are two separate things. The good news: it's quick to fix. Find the section below that matches your situation.

Owner is not the same as admin

Facebook keeps "who owns the Page" and "who can control the Page" separate. Rulrr needs full control so it can publish posts and run ads for you. The steps below give you that control.

Step 1: The 30-second check

Do this on a computer, it's much easier than the phone app:

1. Open Meta Business Suite at business.facebook.com and log in.
2. At the top-left, make sure your Page is the one selected.
3. Click Settings (the gear icon), then open Page access.
4. Find your name in the list and read what it says next to it.

• It says Full control (or Admin): you already have what you need. Jump to Step 3.
• It says Partial access, Editor, or your name isn't listed: go to Step 2.

Step 2: Get full admin access

Pick the one that sounds like you.

A) You own the Page, but you only have partial access

1. In Meta Business Suite, go to Settings, then Page access, and find your name.
2. Click the three dots next to it, then Edit access.
3. Turn ON the switch for "Allow full control of this Page".
4. Save. Facebook may ask for your password to confirm.

If the switch is greyed out or you can't turn it on, it means someone else holds full control. Use option B.

B) Someone else set up your Page (an employee, partner, or agency)

They need to make you an admin. Copy this and send it to them:

When they confirm, run Step 1 again to make sure it now says Full control.

C) Your Page isn't in a business account yet

Rulrr runs your ads through a business account (Facebook calls it a Business Portfolio). If your Page was never added to one:

1. Go to business.facebook.com, then Settings.
2. Under Accounts, then Pages, click Add, then Add a Page, and choose your Page.
3. Make sure your name is listed as an admin (Settings, then People).

Step 3: Reconnect Rulrr

1. Come back to Rulrr and start Connect Facebook again.
2. Log in with the same Facebook account you just gave admin access to.
3. On Facebook's permission screen, leave every permission switched ON. Turning even one off is the most common reason the connection fails.
4. Select your Page and finish.

Still getting an error?

• Right account? Many people have a personal login and a work login. Make sure you're using the one that has admin access.
• All permissions on? Go back through Connect Facebook and don't uncheck anything on the approval screen.
• Give it a minute. Facebook can take a couple of minutes to apply access changes, then try again.
