Introduction
Rulrr, Inc. (“Rulrr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices and rights you have.
Who this policy is for. This Privacy Policy applies to the personal information of our business users — business owners (“Merchants”), resellers, and brands — who access, use, download, install, or register for our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Data we process on behalf of Merchants. Separately, Merchants may connect or upload information about their own customers (such as point-of-sale (“POS”) transaction data and customer lists) (“Consumer Data”). With respect to Consumer Data, the Merchant is the controller and Rulrr acts only as a processor, processing that data on the Merchant’s behalf and on its instructions under our Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum. If you are a customer of a business that uses Rulrr and you have questions about how your data is used, please contact that business, which is the controller of your information. This Privacy Policy does not govern Merchants’ own use of Consumer Data.
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Your continued use constitutes ongoing agreement.
What this policy covers
This policy explains: the information we collect; how we use it; how and with whom we share it; international transfers; data retention; your privacy rights, including California and EU/UK rights; how we protect information; children; cookies; and how to contact us.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Non-Personal Information
We collect non-identifiable information through your use of the Services, such as aggregated usage data and technical information transmitted by your device (for example, device type, browser and operating system, language preference, access times, and referring website). We use this to administer, analyze, improve, and troubleshoot the Services. If we combine non-personal information with personal information, we treat the combined information as personal information while combined.
1.2 Personal Information
We may collect information that identifies you or could reasonably identify you, including:
- Registration information — when you sign up directly or through a social network account.
- Information you provide through the Application — such as your phone number, email, business details, and other information you choose to share.
- Social network sign-in — if you register or sign in through a social network (e.g., Facebook or Google), we may receive basic profile information you have made available or agreed to share, subject to that platform’s terms.
- Voluntary information — such as communications with us, support requests, feedback, and reports.
- Device information — connection details and device identifiers, and, where enabled, geolocation data.
- Billing information — processed by our payment processor; see Section 3.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Set up and authenticate user accounts and provide the Services;
- Operate, support, troubleshoot, and improve the Services;
- Serve and manage advertising campaigns through connected advertising platforms;
- Communicate with you, including service updates and responses to your requests;
- Conduct research and analytics to customize and enhance the Services;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security, and integrity issues; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. Advertising Platforms, and How We Handle “Selling” and “Sharing”
3.1 How advertising works. The Services run advertising campaigns through third-party advertising platforms, including Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). Where campaigns use customer information for targeting, that information is used within the advertising platforms under the relevant business’s own page, advertising account, or connected assets, to reach that business’s audience.
3.2 We do not sell personal information. Rulrr does not sell your personal information for money.
3.3 Advertising opt-out. Every consumer can opt out of receiving Rulrr-managed advertising on Meta platforms. You may exercise this opt-out, and our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” option, through the controls we make available, including a link on our website. We also recognize opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC). You may also use platform-level ad controls offered by Meta and other advertising platforms, and the cookie controls described in Section 9.
3.4 “Sharing” under California law. To run advertising campaigns, we match customer information (such as email addresses or phone numbers) into advertising platforms, including Meta, to create and target custom audiences. Under California law, this use of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising is considered “sharing,” even though no money is exchanged. You have the right to opt out of this “sharing,” and we honor opt-out requests as described in Sections 3.3 and 6. We do not “share” the personal information of consumers under 16 without authorization.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share personal information with:
- Service providers and processors who support our operations (for example, payment processing by Stripe and cloud hosting), under contracts limiting their use of the information;
- Advertising platforms, as described in Section 3, to deliver campaigns;
- Professional advisers and auditors;
- Authorities or other parties where we have a good-faith belief it is necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, prevent fraud or harm, or protect rights, property, or safety; and
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets (see Section 8).
5. International Transfers
We operate globally and may transfer personal information to countries outside your own, including to the United States. Where we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to a country that has not been recognized as providing an adequate level of protection, we rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum, where applicable).
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights, subject to legal exemptions and identity verification:
- Access — to know what personal information we hold about you;
- Correction — to correct inaccurate personal information;
- Deletion — to request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations;
- Portability — to receive your personal information in a portable format; and
- Opt-out — to opt out of advertising and any “sharing” as described in Section 3.
To exercise these rights, contact us at legal@rulrr.com. We may request additional information to verify your identity. If you choose not to allow us to process certain personal information, we may be unable to provide some Services. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to our legitimate interests and legal obligations.
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, contact us at legal@rulrr.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the applicable data protection authority.
6.1 California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect; request deletion; request correction; opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information. We do “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in Section 3, and you may opt out at any time through our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link or by enabling the Global Privacy Control. You may submit a request at legal@rulrr.com, and may use an authorized agent where permitted by law.
6.2 EU/UK Rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing include performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, your consent where applicable, and compliance with legal obligations.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods reflect the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected, and we seek to remove outdated or unused information at the earliest reasonable time. We may rectify, supplement, or remove incomplete or inaccurate information at our discretion.
8. Corporate Transactions
We may disclose or transfer personal information in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets. Any acquirer or successor will assume the rights and obligations described in this Privacy Policy.
9. How We Protect Information
We implement and maintain reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and information transmitted over the Internet or through third-party infrastructure may be vulnerable. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your privacy has not been handled in accordance with this Policy, contact us at legal@rulrr.com.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. If you are under 16, you should not use the Services or provide any personal information to us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from an individual under 16, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us at legal@rulrr.com.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services, understand usage, and support advertising. We use: essential cookies necessary for the Services to function; analytical cookies that help us understand how the Services are used; and advertising cookies used to deliver and measure advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect functionality. To opt out of certain advertising cookies, you may use the Network Advertising Initiative (http://optout.networkadvertising.org/) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (http://optout.aboutads.info/).
12. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be posted with its “Last Revised” date. For material changes, we will provide notice through the Services or by email where appropriate. Your continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
